What Is SpartanPort? The God of War 3 PC Port Formerly gow3_pc

Updated · SpartanPort 2.7.0

SpartanPort is FelipePrado0's PC runtime for God of War III Remastered on PS4, formerly called gow3_pc. Use its packaged launcher for Windows or the experimental Linux AppImage.

Which systems and game editions can I use?

Use the Windows package on Windows 10 version 1903 or newer, or Windows 11, 64-bit, with AVX and Vulkan 1.3. Linux and Steam Deck use an experimental x86-64 AppImage with glibc 2.39 or newer. Mac has a separate Apple Silicon test release.

The game is PS4 Remastered. The installation guides use CUSA01623/CUSA01715 and game versions 01.00/01.02. Game version explains other recognized IDs and matching code signatures. For the PS3 original, choose RPCS3.

Is SpartanPort the same project as gow3_pc?

Yes. The same project adopted the SpartanPort name in 2.6.0. Windows uses SpartanPort.exe for the launcher and Play SpartanPort.exe for direct play. The Linux package is spartanport-x86_64.AppImage. Existing configuration and data are copied to the new names on first start, while old files remain.

If you are coming back to an existing installation, use Update for the platform-specific replacement and shortcut steps. For a new installation, start with Download.

How does it run PS4 Remastered on a PC?

The PS4 and PC use x86-64 CPUs. SpartanPort runs the game's original CPU code directly and supplies a runtime that handles the system functions the game expects: memory, threads, files, audio, input and saves.

Graphics use shadPS4 technology. Its video core translates PS4 graphics commands and shaders to Vulkan, with game rendering fixes from cuesta4's eltutz branch.

The project descends from Supermedo's Windows port of deadinside28's bloodborne_pc. Its game-specific work includes the launcher, runtime, patches, shader cache and port menu. Use the included launcher to start the game.

Which features can I use?

The launcher brings together game selection, graphics, performance, input mapping, mods and save backups. The port supports cutscenes, audio, game saving and loading, keyboard and controller input, selectable engine rates and render resolutions. Trophies are stored locally on the PC.

Patches and menu hooks locate matching code signatures in the selected game. A region or update can therefore change which features apply. Use Game version for the input combinations and Troubleshooting for a feature that fails on your build.

What changed in the current release?

SpartanPort 2.7.0 reuses saved shaders, prefetches them in the background and stores identical pipeline binaries once. After updating, it rebuilds the shader cache once. Its worker scheduling gives low-thread CPUs more time for graphics, audio and file work.

The engine-rate list includes 144 and 180 FPS alongside 60, 100, 120 and 240. The game's native Options menu has Cheats and Multipliers; local trophies have their own list through F8 or R3 + R2. Linux gains a checksum-checked AppImage updater after the one-time replacement from 2.6.0.

Use Update to keep the active saves and portable settings, and Settings for these controls.

What still goes wrong, and where do I ask for help?

Known problems include Intel rendering and device-lost errors, particular loading hangs and location crashes, and texture corruption during a session. High engine rates can still block some input sequences; switch to 60 FPS for those checks.

Find the matching hardware or scene in Troubleshooting. Preserve the failure log and send the port version, operating system, CPU, GPU/driver, render settings, game ID/update and reproduction steps through project issues. Keep a save from before a location bug when relevant.

What should I download, update or recover next?

The project code is licensed under GNU GPL v2 or later; third-party components retain their own licenses.
