How to Install God of War 3 Remastered on Windows

Updated · SpartanPort 2.7.0

Extract spartanport-windows.zip, open SpartanPort.exe, select the game folder and click Save, then PLAY. Use the packaged Windows release so you can start through the launcher without installing Python.

What should I check before installing?

Use Windows 10 version 1903 or newer, or Windows 11, with a 64-bit AVX CPU and Vulkan 1.3 driver. Check Requirements and Game version first. The game directory you select must directly contain eboot.bin.

If you are replacing an existing installation, follow Update to keep its data.

Which files do I extract and open?

  1. Get spartanport-windows.zip from the current release; Download gives the SHA-256 check to complete before opening the package.
  2. Extract the whole ZIP to a folder such as C:\Games\spartanport-windows. Run the extracted files, outside the ZIP.
  3. Open SpartanPort.exe in that folder. If Windows displays Windows protected your PC for this release download, click More info, then Run anyway. This release is unsigned.

Which game and update folders should I select?

  1. Click Choose the game folder. The launcher opens Game.
  2. Next to Game folder, click Browse… and select the folder containing eboot.bin.
  3. If your game update is stored separately, set Update folder (optional) using the folder rules. Leave it empty when the selected game folder already includes that update.
  4. Return to Home. Look for the cover, title ID and game version. The line can read CUSA01623 · version 01.02; it should match your selected game.
  5. Click Save to keep the selected paths.

How do I save my settings and start playing?

Click PLAY. The first start prepares the game image. Shader compilation can also affect startup and cause temporary stutters; Settings explains the cache controls.

If the launcher shows a preparation error, or the game stays black or closes, go to Troubleshooting. Match the error to its next action before changing graphics options.

For input and graphics changes, use Controls and Settings. After saving progress, close the game normally and check that Load Game finds it on your next start. Saves explains backup and recovery.

Can I skip the launcher or start through Steam?

Yes. Open Play SpartanPort.exe in the extracted program folder to start with saved settings. Make a desktop shortcut to that file for later starts.

To use Steam, choose Add a Non-Steam Game and select Play SpartanPort.exe. Keep the program folder at the shortcut's path. Use SpartanPort.exe when you want to change the saved game folder, graphics or controls.

For a shortcut pointing at the former project name, follow the update and rename steps.
